About Trail Care Days
Trail Care Days are a monthly event run by the Derby MTB Club. If you love riding the Blue Derby trails, this is a great opportunity to give something back, and be a part of your mountain bike community. By doing our bit with some basic trail maintenance tasks, including raking, trimming vegetation, and tidying up the numerous drainage points throughout the network, our fantastic trail crew can focus on the big jobs, such as trail repair and rebuilds. Every little bit we can do helps them out enormously. We have several club members who have received training related to these tasks, and will be on-hand to provide some guidance if your coming along for the first time. It's nothing too strenuous, and tools will be provided. Guaranteed, you will have an enjoyable time, and leave with a great sense of satisfaction.
The TLDR;
Location: Blue Derby Mountain Bike Trails
Meet: Trail head
Start time: 3:00PM
Frequency: Monthly, alternating between a Saturday and a Tuesday (giving the weekend workers a chance to be involved).
Tools: Provided. The most useful tool for the type of work we do is a garden rake, as pictured below the More Info section. If you have one of these, feel free to bring it along in case we don’t have enough.
Registration: Not required. Just turn up on the day
About the Trail Care Day
The day is:
open to anyone who wants to give back and support the Blue Derby MTB Trails and the Derby MTB Club
for all ages, levels of experience, or fitness levels
fun, supportive and social
Nothing too strenuous. Generally consists of raking and trimming of vegetation. Some drains may need work which will normally be performed by members who have received some training from the Trail crew.
This Weeks Trail
This month we will be working on Rattler. Depending on hope we progress, if we have time, we can continue on to Howler, and then Sawtooth. This is probably a good one to bring your bikes along to get near the start of the trail. We will take a vehicle with tools up the access road as close as we can get. We can then walk in from there. However, we request that everyone meet at the Blue Derby trail head prior to heading up.
